Unit 14-The Cold War
ACT EOC E.1.f to E.1.h
The Cold War is a war between ideologies that spans the period from World War II until the early 1990s. The US and USSR emerge from World War II as the lone “Superpowers” of the world, and other nations are at times forced to stand behind one of the two. Conflicts erupt in Korea and Vietnam, and tensions come to a boil in Berlin, Cuba, and Southeast Asia. The United States also experiences another Red Scare and further division with communist witch hunts, conspiracies, and a divided public on the role of the United States in the world. Communism eventually begins to fall, as the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe throw off their oppressive governments in search of democracy near the end of the century. |
