Unit 6-Civil War & Reconstruction

Picture
ACT EOC B.2.F & B.3.A-B.3.E

The unit is essentially three main ideas which covers the entirety of the Civil War period.

The first portion of the unit will discuss the long and short term causes of the Civil War including the divisions that existed because of the continued sectionalism of the early 1800s.

The second portion is the war itself with emphasis on the major turning points of the war, technological innovations, social changes that occur during the war and immediately after, and also Lincoln's influence on war aims and his executive actions.

Finally, the last part of the unit will discuss the Reconstruction period and the implementation of the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments, known collectively as the  'Civil War Amendments'.

The unit will conclude with a look at the failures and successes of implementation of Reconstruction including the rise of segregation, the 'Solid South', and the plight of the Freedmen as they entered into a new era of this nation.
